A Holy Lent at Ascension

According to “A New Dictionary for Episcopalians,” Lent is the season of the church year that runs for forty weekdays and six Sundays between Ash Wednesday and Easter and is a special season of preparation for Easter. Many people observe Lent by undertaking special programs of study; many practice self-denial. The purpose of Lent is not self-punishment but preparing ourselves for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.
