The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 12 at 7pm in the Parish Hall. The book to be discussed is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd which is set in the American South in 1964, the year of the Civil Rights Act and intensifying racial unrest. It is a coming-of-age story that addresses the difficulty of loss and betrayal.

Ash Wednesday is just around the corner. If you have dried palms from last year’s Palm Sunday service please bring them to the church on Sunday, March 2. Jon Gillock will play Messiaen’s Le Banquet Célèste and La Nativité du Seigneur on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 8pm. The Church of the Ascension continues the distinguished series of concerts featuring The Complete Organ Works of Olivier Messiaen, played by Messiaen’s friend and disciple, Jon Gillock. In the first two programs of this cycle, Jon Gillock played the final two masterpieces Messiaen composed.
