Meredith KadetWe are delighted to welcome Meredith Kadet, Program Director of Episcopal Charities, as our guest preacher at both the 9 and 11 a.m. services this Episcopal Charities Sunday. Meredith is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary, and a member of St. Michael’s Church on the Upper West Side. Prior to seminary she served in a variety of fundraising and development roles in the international humanitarian relief sector.

Although it may seem hard to believe, just over a million people residing within the footprint of the Diocese of New York live in poverty. Together we can provide very real help and show our love to those in need, and we can do so through Episcopal Charities. Envelopes for a special offering will be available in this week’s bulletin. At coffee hour following the 11 am service we will hear briefly about the work of our own Ascension Outreach, which is funded in part by Episcopal Charities. Please join us to learn about your parish outreach ministries and how you can participate! Here is a link to the webpage for Episcopal Charities of New York.

Mother Liz links this to Sunday’s gospel promise that we dwell in Christ and Christ in us—a mysterious communion revealed to those who love, inviting us to be present to the holy in the everyday.
