We have two special events the end of this month: Newcomers’ Brunch and Haunted Church Halloween! Parishioners are invited to brunch on October 30th following the 11am service. Whether this is your first time visiting with us, or you’ve been coming for years, you are invited. This is a great opportunity to welcome, be welcomed and learn about the Church of the Ascension. Please call the church office at (212) 254-8620 to RSVP so we can plan for the food. The following day is Haunted Church Halloween from 3:00 to 6:00pm. All children and their adults are welcome, along with spooky host volunteers to give out treats and welcome all the neighborhood goblins!

Parish News: May 24
In this week’s newsletter, the rector notes Pentecost’s reversal of Babel—not by restoring a single language, but by enabling understanding across difference as each speaks and hears in their own tongue. She treasures hearing parishioners read “God’s deeds of power” in many languages during worship, and invites us to consider what it means to speak of God in our own heart language—whether shaped by mother tongue, place, trust, or profound shared experience. In a time of contempt for difference, Pentecost reveals the blessing of many tongues and the Holy Spirit’s gift of mutual understanding across culture, faith, and ethnic background.
