We are proud to continue this distinguished series of concerts featuring The Complete Organ Works of Olivier Messiaen, played by the internationally acclaimed interpreter, Jon Gillock, Messiaen’s friend and disciple. Especially interesting for Messiaen aficionados is the schedule of this recital during the week of the New York Philharmonic’s performances of Turangalîla-symphonie and the Quartet for the End of Time. The moving final movement of the Quartet appears in this recital in its original version: the second part of Diptyque. Here are the Program Notes by Jon Gillock.
