Ascension Forum presents Eliza GriswoldAscension Forum: A Contemporary Exodus – On February 28, after the 11:00 a.m. service, Eliza Griswold will lead a forum on the plight of Christians and other religious minorities fleeing ISIS, and other existential threats in the larger Middle East. Ms. Griswold is an award-winning journalist and poet, a courageous reporter and keen observer of both faith and human stories. The Tenth Parallel, her book about the interaction of Christianity and Islam in Africa and Asia, was a NY Times bestseller, and she won a PEN award for her 2015 book, I Am the Beggar of the World: Landays from Contemporary Afghanistan, translated from Pashto. We are delighted to welcome her to Ascension- bring your friends!

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, Mother Liz invites us to remember those lost, the first responders’ sacrifice, and the courage and compassion that arose amid devastation. Ascension will be open for prayer and reflection from 8 am to 5 pm, with bells tolling at 8:46. She shares a prayer from Bishop Allen Shin, calling us to confront hatred, resist violence, and make peace.
