Search Committee Announces Online Parish Survey

Dear Members of Ascension,

As we begin our search for the next rector, we are undertaking a self-study of the parish. The link below will connect you to an online questionnaire we have compiled, which is a crucial part of that process. As you review the questions, please give them careful and prayerful consideration. We ask that you submit the completed questionnaire by Sunday, February 24th.

The information gathered in this questionnaire will be used to help the Search Committee compile a thorough and accurate parish profile. The profile will be sent to the diocesan Office of Transition Ministry and used by prospective candidates to help them discern if Ascension is the right place for them.

Your responses will also help to guide the Search Committee in determining the kind of rector parishioners want.

Paper copies of the questionnaire are available in the Parish Hall and in the Narthex of the church, although we strongly encourage you to submit your responses online, as it will greatly assist us in compiling the information. Please be assured that your responses are completely confidential. If there are any questions you do not feel comfortable answering, you may leave them blank.

Your participation in this survey is vital to our search process and will have an important role in the selection of our next rector. Please give it the highest priority.

Yours in Christ,

Meredith Ward

Search Committee Chair

Parish News: April 26

In this week’s newsletter, Mother Liz celebrates Earth Month alongside Eastertide, noting how resurrection speaks not only to humanity but to “the groaning of the whole creation” and God’s determination to make all things new. She observes that when Mary Magdalene mistakes the risen Christ for a gardener, we glimpse the deep interconnection of all beings—and when we touch creation’s wounds with reverence and compassion, we meet God. Quoting Robin Wall Kimmerer, the rector reminds us that “when we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us,” and invites us to deepen our love and commitment to our fragile, beautiful planet.
