Update on the Interim Pastor Search

A committee of Vestry members continues to search for an interim pastor to work with Mother Shelley and the congregation during our transition period. This is in addition to the formation of the Search Committee for our next Rector which we recently announced. To date, the committee has reviewed numerous resumes and has interviewed two candidates in person. At this time, the candidate we had selected is unfortunately not able to join us, and thus we are continuing to look for qualified candidates. The position description remains posted on the Diocesan website at http://dioceseny.org/pages/259-positions-open and we welcome recommendations from parishioners of clergy that would fit the description. Please contact the committee at AscensionInterim@myopera.com.

We are pleased that Father James Reho will continue to assist Mother Shelley at some services in December, including Christmas Eve, and through January as needed. We will also be using additional supply clergy during this time. Please continue to keep both the interim pastor search and Rector search in your prayers.

Faithfully,

John Grimes and Steve Hubbard, Wardens

She observes that when Mary Magdalene mistakes the risen Christ for a gardener, we glimpse the deep interconnection of all beings—and when we touch creation’s wounds with reverence and compassion, we meet God. Quoting Robin Wall Kimmerer, the rector reminds us that “when we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us,” and invites us to deepen our love and commitment to our fragile, beautiful planet.
