The Ascension Summer Book Group will meet on Monday, July 15, and Tuesday July 23. All are invited to read and discuss Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again, by Rachel Held Evans. This is a book about telling and inhabiting stories – bible stories, our own stories of faith, doubt, and wrestling for a blessing. RHE, as she is affectionately known, died earlier this year from complications of the flu at the age of 37. Her writings about her own journey of faith have been a companion, challenge and inspiration to many readers, and hopefully will be engaging for us as well. Mother Liz will lead the conversation, and we’ll meet in the Rear Parlor after the 6:00 evening Eucharist (about 6:45). The book is readily available from Amazon and elsewhere. Please read chapters 3 & 4 for this Monday.

In a time of contempt for difference, Pentecost reveals the blessing of many tongues and the Holy Spirit’s gift of mutual understanding across culture, faith, and ethnic background.
