Meredith WardAscension is blessed to be sponsoring two wonderful women for ordination to the priesthood in the Diocese of New York, and we are delighted that both of them are preaching at our services this summer. This Sunday, July 14, Meredith Ward is our preacher. She has just completed her second year at Union Theological Seminary, and we look forward to her ordination, God willing, in the coming year. Meredith is also preaching on Sunday, August 11, and at our 6 pm service on Monday, July 22, the Feast of Mary Magdalene.

Next Sunday, July 21, Stacey Carpenter will preach. Stacey is preparing to leave for her first year at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas, and the following Sunday, July 28, will be her last at Ascension for several months. Please join us to give her a prayerful, festive send off. Come and hear both Stacey and Meredith bring the Word, and show your support. We are so proud of them both!

The rector invites us to sit with these mysteries during the “dazzling darkness” between Ascension and Pentecost, pondering how we are held and hidden with Christ while called to be his presence in a world of crisis, wonder, and grief.
