Blessing of Needlework this Sunday

This Sunday, June 2, 2019, will include a blessing of the needlework by the Needlecraft Guild. The Ascension Needlework Group meets on the first Wednesday evening of every month to handcraft comfort shawls, hats, and scarves for various groups in need. The comfort shawls and some hats we are blessing this Sunday will go to Mt. Sinai hospital — they will be for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment as well as patients in end of life hospice care. The hats and scarf sets we are blessing will go to the Seamen’s Church Institute to warm mariners at sea. We welcome new members of our group – no prior knitting or crochet experience necessary. In a time of contempt for difference, Pentecost reveals the blessing of many tongues and the Holy Spirit’s gift of mutual understanding across culture, faith, and ethnic background.
