This Sunday, June 2, 2019, will include a blessing of the needlework by the Needlecraft Guild. The Ascension Needlework Group meets on the first Wednesday evening of every month to handcraft comfort shawls, hats, and scarves for various groups in need. The comfort shawls and some hats we are blessing this Sunday will go to Mt. Sinai hospital — they will be for patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment as well as patients in end of life hospice care. The hats and scarf sets we are blessing will go to the Seamen’s Church Institute to warm mariners at sea. We welcome new members of our group – no prior knitting or crochet experience necessary. For more information, please contact Joan Castagnone at jcastagnone@mac.com.

Parish News: August 23
This week our associate rector, Father Ed, reflects on late summer’s quieter rhythm in the city and the subtle shifts in energy he observes while making pastoral calls. He contrasts the effects of anxiety-inducing news cycles with the neurological benefits of worship and faith community—the oxytocin and endorphins that come from fellowship. He encourages us to keep returning to church, trusting that our shared spiritual practice sustains hope.
