Join with the Church of Saint Matthew and Saint Timothy and others from around the Diocese of New York on Sunday, June 10 at 5PM as we remember the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida with the liturgy of Evensong. Ascension is proud to co-sponsor this service. Throughout the month of June, Pride Month, the church presents an Art Exhibit that comes out of expressions from various Intersection: Faith, latinx, LGBTQ gatherings. For over a year groups of LGBTQ+ and Latinx people of faith have gathered and written poetry together. The poetry is in remembrance of Pulse, and about Pride and Faith. Visit the exhibit and read, gather, write, pray, meditate in this holy place.

Parish News: May 24
In this week’s newsletter, the rector notes Pentecost’s reversal of Babel—not by restoring a single language, but by enabling understanding across difference as each speaks and hears in their own tongue. She treasures hearing parishioners read “God’s deeds of power” in many languages during worship, and invites us to consider what it means to speak of God in our own heart language—whether shaped by mother tongue, place, trust, or profound shared experience. In a time of contempt for difference, Pentecost reveals the blessing of many tongues and the Holy Spirit’s gift of mutual understanding across culture, faith, and ethnic background.
