On Sunday, May 21, 2017 we celebrate our Diocesan organization Episcopal Charities and ask you to join us in raising funds on this day. As the outreach arm of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, Episcopal Charities equips parish-affiliated outreach programs to transform the lives of people in need in their diverse communities. Through grants and technical support, they support nearly 100 programs that transform lives and strengthen communities. These programs include: Food pantries and community kitchens that address hunger in local towns and neighborhoods; skills-building programs that help brighten the futures of the unemployed, recent immigrants, and ex-prisoners re-entering society; Food Pantryfood pantry Episcopal Charitieshealth and wellness programs that improve quality of life for senior citizens, the homebound, children with special needs, and recovering substance abusers; children’s arts, academic enrichment, and summer recreation offerings that broaden the horizons of thousands of young people annually. Our food pantry at Ascension has received financial support from Episcopal Charities for many years. Envelopes for a special offering will be available in this week’s bulletin.
