The theme for the Advent Quiet Day on Saturday, December 3, 2016 is Baking Bread and Waiting for God. We will meet from 10am until 3pm. Co-led by Fr. Ed and Valerie Coates (Ascension Chorister and bread baking expert), the group will explore our relationship with the Divine in this season of waiting, hope and expectation, while making bread as both a metaphor and a spiritual practice. Lunch will be served. Suggested donation, which covers the cost of materials and food, is $15. (Scholarships are available.) Contact Fr. Ed or Andrew Jones, Parish Administrator (212) 254-8620 to reserve a place for what is sure to be a delightful and delicious time together.

Parish News: May 24
In this week’s newsletter, the rector notes Pentecost’s reversal of Babel—not by restoring a single language, but by enabling understanding across difference as each speaks and hears in their own tongue. She treasures hearing parishioners read “God’s deeds of power” in many languages during worship, and invites us to consider what it means to speak of God in our own heart language—whether shaped by mother tongue, place, trust, or profound shared experience. In a time of contempt for difference, Pentecost reveals the blessing of many tongues and the Holy Spirit’s gift of mutual understanding across culture, faith, and ethnic background.
