The book for the November meeting of the Ascension Book Group will be The Inner Voice of Love by Henri J. M. Nouwen. This book was written during a time when the author, already a very well-known spiritual teacher and Catholic priest, was going through a personal crisis of severe depression. It is representative of his journals at the time, and the “inner voice of love” that pulled him through and healed. This meeting will take place at 7pm in the Parish Hall.

Save the date for the December 7th meeting when we will have a special guest, Peter Balakian, the author of Black Dog of Fate. This meeting will also take place at 7pm in the Parish Hall. So stay tuned for further details. Our discussion will be of the 2009 edition, which includes a short section of new material previewed in the New York Times, of the author’s visit to the sites discussed in the book.
