Voices of Ascension will perform at two free concerts on Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. at Rockefeller Park in Battery Park City. The performance will be at the north end of the park, at the corner of River Terrace and Warren St. (Take the subway to Chambers Street and walk west on Chambers Street to the park on the Hudson River.)
The Voices of Ascension are proud to be part of The Joyce Theater Foundation presentation of an evening of music and dance to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. The performance includes Voices of Ascension and the José Limón Dance Company performing Zoltán Kodály’s Missa Brevis, as well as Orchestra of St. Luke’s and Paul Taylor Dance Company performing Brandenburgs (excerpts from Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 3 and 6 and Sonata for Violin and Continuo, BWV 1019), as well as Purcell’s Chaconne in G minor.
Voices of Ascension sang the Missa Brevis in June in an emotional and moving performance. If you love this piece, you’ll especially love it when paired with the artistry and choreography of the José Limón Dance Company.
