Dear friends,
In an abundance of caution, we are cancelling the Christmas Eve Family Service at 5:00 p.m. The surge of the Omicron variant is simply overwhelming in New York City and this is the only way that we believe we can responsibly care for one another.
We are terribly disappointed that we need to do this. We so looked forward to being together and sharing the simple telling of the Christmas Story, the placement of the creatures in the creche, and Holy Communion.
Our other Christmas services (Christmas Eve at 9:30 pm and Christmas Day at 11 am) will be live-streamed and you can watch them live or at any time after they air. We hope you will join us online.
To view the services online, go to ascensionnyc.org/webcasts
Our services will remain online through Sunday, January 2. After that we will reassess the situation and hope to be able to return to in-person worship very soon.
Jesus was born in just such dangerous and uncertain times. In our disappointment and anxiety may we discover anew God’s presence with us as Emmanuel.
May God bless you this Christmas.
Liz
