Please join us for the next Sunday forum in our series featuring members of our parish who make art in a variety of media. The forum takes place after the 11am service. Our hope is to explore how making art expresses and forms our spirituality, and perhaps along the way to ponder what it means to be made in the image of an infinitely creative God. This forum is led by our own Bora Yoon, a choir member, sound artist, vocalist and composer, and also offers a tantalizing taste of what she will be doing at her concert with theraminist Armen Ra here at Ascension on Friday, May 5. This week, Mother Liz reflects on Jesus’ call to be “salt” and “light,” exploring these images as both gift and vocation. Salt brings savor, preservation, and healing; light reveals truth and kindles hope—even when it feels vulnerable to shine. Jesus speaks in the present tense: this is who we already are, together, as the church. Drawing on recent courageous witness from clergy and neighbors responding to injustice, Mother Liz invites us to live our shared calling with courage, creativity, and compassion so that others may taste and see the goodness of God through our life together.
