There are a number of special programs at Ascension this season, including forums, dinners, classes, films, quiet day, a farm day and retreat. On February 28th after the 11 o’clock service Eliza Griswold will present a forum on the plight of Christians and other religious minorities fleeing Isis, and other existential threats in the larger Middle East. Ms. Griswold is an award-winning journalist and poet, a courageous reporter and keen observer of both faith and human stories. The Tenth Parallel, her book about the interaction of Christianity and Islam in Africa and Asia, was a NY Times bestseller, and she won a PEN award for her 2015 book, I Am the Beggar of the World: Landays from Contemporary Afghanistan, translated from Pashto.
