Sunday, September 23 at 11:00 am our guest preacher is Dr. Deirdre Good, Professor of New Testament Studies at General Theological Seminary. A graduate of the Harvard Divinity School, Dr. Good specializes in the Synoptic Gospels, Christian Origins, non-canonical writings and biblical languages (Greek and Coptic). While she is an American citizen, she grew up in Kenya where her parents were missionaries. She is also a contributor to the blog, Episcopal Cafe. She has received numerous honors and awards and has many articles featured in various publications.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, Mother Liz invites us to remember those lost, the first responders’ sacrifice, and the courage and compassion that arose amid devastation. Ascension will be open for prayer and reflection from 8 am to 5 pm, with bells tolling at 8:46. She shares a prayer from Bishop Allen Shin, calling us to confront hatred, resist violence, and make peace.
