On the last Sunday in June we celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender pride with our water table on Fifth Avenue. The Rev. Christopher Montella will be our guest preacher that day. Christopher first came to The Church of the Ascension in 1996 as a parishioner and by the time he moved to Los Angeles in 2003 had been involved in a variety of ministries including serving on the Vestry. After moving to Los Angeles, he began exploring a call to ordained life, cultivating seeds that were planted here at Ascension. In January of this year, after 25 years in the fashion industry, he was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Los Angeles where he serves as the Chair of The Bishop’s Commission for LGBTQ Ministry. After the service, around noon, we will set up our water table to give water to the marchers on Fifth Avenue and commemorate the 48th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Please join us! For more information and to let us know you want to volunteer or bring sandwiches or cookies for the volunteers, contact Steve Hubbard or the parish office or just come help set up after the 11 am service.
