Stephen Tharp Organ Recital February 24th

organWe are very pleased to present this amazing organist playing a program of major French 19th century organ works: Widor’s Symphony 8 and the Three Chorals of Franck. Organistic yet daringly orchestral, Widor’s Symphonie 8 represents the summit of his ideal for the form. Its scale is monumental, the longest of all of his Symphonies and, when finished in 1887, it was the peak of organ composition for its time, having pushed the resources of the instrument to its limits. Franck’s famous and beloved Three Chorals were his last compositions. They remain the most revered organ works composed in the 19th Century. Stephen Tharp is one of today’s most internationally prolific concert organists. Do not miss the chance to hear his virtuosic performance on the glorious Manton Memorial Organ. Tickets can be purchased online at www.VoicesofAscension.org or call the box office at (212) 358-7060.
